TAYPORT PRACTICE CLOSURE
Please note, our Tayport practice will be closed all day on Wednesday 13th September 2017 to allow for essential electrical work to be completed. Our Newport practice will be open as usual with all appointments being provided from Newport. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
BLOOD APPOINTMENT TIMES
Following feedback from our patients, and in order to improve the services we offer to you, we are pleased to announce that the practice has invested in a centrifuge system to enable us to provide you with an increased selection of blood appointment times. We are now able to offer later appointments, up to 4pm, every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at our Newport practice. These appointments will commence from 31.07.17 and we hope you find the increased appointment times beneficial.
APPOINTMENT DEMAND & ACCESS
As you may be aware from media reports, general practice is under increasing pressure regarding access to appointments. Our practice continues to look at ways to deliver a safe and sustainable service, using the limited resources we currently have, in order to meet the complexities of our practice population with increasing health care needs.
We are all acutely aware of the difficulty you may face when trying to book a routine appointment with a GP. Unfortunately, due to the increasing demands placed on our practice, we may be unable to provide you with an appointment at a time or date suitable to yourself. Our reception staff do try their hardest to accommodate your requested day or time however they are only able to offer you the appointments that are available. As a practice, to try and address the increasing demands placed on our service, we have increased capacity by making more routine appointments available each day than what we are contractually obliged to do so. We also offer an evening service, once per week, which has allowed us to increase the number of appointments available to our patient population. These increases have resulted in the practice providing an additional 119 appointments per week. Unfortunately, due to the increasing demands placed on our service, this extra capacity has been outstripped which has resulted in patients having to wait longer for our first routine appointment.
Please rest assured that the practice takes your clinical concerns extremely seriously and we will always accommodate requests from patients who feel their symptoms are of an urgent nature and cannot wait until our first routine appointment. Such requests will be triaged by our on-call doctor and will involve them contacting you back to discuss your symptoms whilst discussing the best course of action with you.

You can book or cancel your doctor and phlebotomy appointments online. Please register your details to make sure you are able to use this service. The information on how to do this can be found on under the 'Appointments' tab. Alternatively, please ask a receptionist for further information.
